Hey, parents!

I'm Dove Dupree but when I'm with the youth, I go by Mr. Dove!

Upword Dovelopment is essentially all the fun edutainment things I love to do with the youth like poetry, theater, music, green screen, stop motion, videos, and the list goes on.

Green Screen: Learn how to remove backgrounds like they do on the movie sets, and music videos. Put yourself on top of a building, or shrink yourself as small as a mouse, create your own videos and put yourself anywhere!

Stop Motion: How fun would it be to create your own animations using play doe, toys and other objects you can bring from home? Could you use your own drawings to implement them in your videos too? The world is yours!

Theatre: There is not better feeling than using your imagination to hop in and out of a bunch of different characters. Learn the basics of theater with 10 techniques, participate in funny skits, meet new acting friends and get better prepared for the big stage.

Dinos: How big were dinosaurs really? Wanna see cool videos, dig for fossils, play with done toys and do dinosaur egg hunt?

Legos: How many different creations can you build with so many legos? Can you build a robot, a house, or even a car?

I've been doing my edutainment and art enrichment classes in different ways since about 2015. I've been a substitute teacher, I've worked in special education for a short period of time, I've worked as the media clerk at an elementary school, after school programs, summer camps, enrichment programs, and currently as a teaching artist.

After working so long under the wing of great programs, my wife and I decided that it was time to finally branch out on my own.

It is such a joy watching students light up when they create a project with green screen, how they embrace the stage for theater, even how they laugh when they see their friends projects for stop motion. I hope your child gets the chance to experience something here.

POTENTIAL FAQ?

What if my kid is a year younger or older? We may be able to squeeze them in the class as long as you don't feel there is too large of a maturity gap.
What's for lunch? We will provide a light snack, per class, but each student needs to bring their own lunch if they are staying for the 1pm class.
Do you have experience with the classes you are teaching? Nope! ...Just kidding. While I only started working with stop motion in 2022, green screen animation has been something I've been fond of and active with since about 2017. I've created my own videos and have worked with many schools across Greenville county. My favorite movie is Jurassic Park 3, and the babies love my Dinos classes, I used to take over my little brother's leg collection when we were kids, and I have an entire Bachelors degree in Theatre.
What if my child does both AM and PM classes? Students can be picked up by the parent for lunch and return to class by 1pm, or they can bring their own lunch. There will be hold over activities available for those who stay such as cards, board games and something to watch on the TV.
Location? 1012 Mauldin Rd, Greenville, SC 29607. - Reedy River Missionary Baptist Church
Do they need their own device? Yes, for green screen and stop motion. An iPad, phone or tablet
Is there a deadline to sign up? The night before classes start would be ideal.
Child's behavior? Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Please have your child come ready to be attentive and respectful. If we have problems with your child's behavior, a few short warnings will be granted. If problems continue, it will be removal from the class for day, or the whole week if necessary. A 50% refund will be given if your child is at fault.
Safety? Our class sessions will be located on the bottom level of our church building. Outside doors will be locked. Parent re entry must be requested and granted. For safety, we don't want people walking about.
Filming? Signing your child up for the classes gives me permission to take video recordings and photos for promo material for future classes and the UpWord Dove YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@upworddove. If your child needs to be exempt, please let me know.
